In addition to the topics mentioned here, I've had my fingers in most of the other bits of important technology and am able to apply that experience to new projects.
Education, Awards, & Career Background
Starting with computers since the age of 9 and never letting it go has given me the “Wizkid” status and this has reflected throughout my career. Building websites , installing servers and freelancing computer support in general till I started working for the IT department of the Dutch Government. After 3 years I ended my career their with a system admin status and decided to move to Ireland Dublin for a new challenge. In Dublin I had to start from scratch again which I did and again after 3 years I ended my career but this time with a Unix Administrator status. In the last 3 years I received multiple awards related to projects I worked on, managed and proposed being a positive influence on the various companies.
Internet Infrastructure & Security
I've had a fulltime internet connection as early as 1996 and have been responsible for setting up a large amount of routers and firewalls since that same year. I currently manage around a dozen customer networks, firewalls, and internet servers.
Specific areas of practice:
Apache Configuration: The demand for web servers and web space has been growing so much since the rise of the internet that I have specialized myself in the configuration and management of these servers including virtual host setup, proxy, authentication modules.Sendmail Configuration: I have many years of experience wading through sendmail configuration files, whether it is for anti-spam provisioning or simply having the server process mail in unusual ways.
Databases / Clustering
I’ve been using MySQL databases since my early internet days setting them up for customers in combination with an Apache / PHP setup. Also my experience with clustering and raid configuration has grown a lot with recent customers who needed a disaster recovery plan for their HP-UX box in combination with an EMC storage device.
EMC SAN: Setting on the volume group configurations, using the LVM or checking the LUN integrity has been part of my job for some major customers
MySQL: The initial installation, configuration and upkeep of these database servers are no problem for me.
Languages and Systems Programming
I have been programming from the age of 9, working with a MSX and there MSX-Basic I developed various games and little applications. My interest in programming grew and at in later stages I learned HTML, TP, Expect, Shell scripting, PHP and various other scripting ways.
Shell scripting: This for me is the ultimate when it comes to IT; the powerful UNIX systems allow you to automate every process you want. This experience is the most valuable I can offer my customers because it will make life easier.
HTML/PHP: designing a front-end for your helpdesk which would automate certain processes or which would be a knowledge base for your internal systems. It does not matter how or what most likely I can make it.
Training / Technical Writing
Training and the passing on of information is a very important factor in my role and I filled the shoes of trainer in various companies with great success and response of my “students”. When it comes to technical writing , I have created various types of documentation related to training , bug-fixes , project time lines etc
