Social networking , a new expertise

Myspace,Facebook,Bebo,Hyves,Linkedin,Friendster and so so so many more websites have been popping up in the last year to fill a social networking "gap" that wasn't there. It is all part of the individual person wanting to show there individuality in a network.

The smart thing about these type of social systems is that you are not really individual , you are part of a group. So your a myspacer or a facebooker , and you connect to your friends and your friends invite you to groups of other friends and eventually a pattern of interests is formed. Edward Bernays would have loved this setup when he was around 50 years ago since it does make marketing so much easier.

Companies are grasping this and are "joining" the social networking sites but if you think about it who wants to be friends with Mc Donalds ? A buddy of Adidas ? Let's Poke Toyota ! So companies joining the social networking group for marketing purposes be aware that your "profile" is very friendly and your content is very interesting and eventually you will get the benefit of these major databases full of consumers with all the information you need to sell sell sell sell and sell more products to their individual needs. Oh and let's not forget you can always trow in a 2 years free payment scheme in for before the recession of 2050
