When I think about the word “genius” I will automatically go for option 5b or 5c but this is just the interpretation of one fifth of the dictionary meaning. Wikipedia on the other hand used by journalists all around for facts and figureswould describe genius as
A genius is an individual who successfully applies a previously unknown technique in the production of a work of art, science, or calculation, or who masters and personalizes a known technique.
For Wikipedia it is apparently not enough for you to be smart or extraordinary but you also need to have an applied technique to “show” off your geniusness. The one thing both descriptions do have in common is that it needs to be observed by a third party. Although some none geniuses think that they are and vice versa.
More then often you find that most geniuses become geniuses after they have perished and their tombstones will be carved with their name and the date, nothing fancy and no A+ on their graves. It is only after they have died that the public, the 3rd party will say. Wow his theories were genius, this makes absolute sense “Darwin my friend you are a genius indeed”.
Realizing that most geniuses were brilliant minds discovered after their death is something that the dictionary knows as well and if you look further into it, you will find that actually the first meaning and understanding of the word both in mythology , and in the dictionary refers to a spirit.
So I found my genius,
"may it roam the world and inspire many others, may it rest in peace"
